1. Service access and downtime
Q. How is the YalliYalli going to change?
There are two main changes. The first one is the stability of the system. Since YalliYalli is being used by users in many different countries, the system upgrade was needed to provide more stable services. The second key change is the updated user interface (UI) design. Other than the main page, the way the menu is organized and pages of each service have been changed. There are some new functions but also we removed some from the existing ones. For more details about the changes for each service, we are going to explain on the new website. The tutoring service also went through a major makeover for further improvements. There would be more details provided for tutors for pages such as tutor profile, creating sessions, and the payout pages.
Q. How long can I use the current website?
You can use the current website until the planned downtime which starts at 4 p.m. on January 4 (KST). The service will be offline during the downtime.
Q. How long will the downtime last?
In order to upgrade the system, it has to be shut down for a brief moment. The downtime will start at 16:00 on January 4 and is expected to last for 4 hours (20:00). But please note that the downtime may last longer. In that case, we will let you know.
Q. How can I use the newly upgraded YalliYalli?
As soon as the system upgrade is complete, you can use it with the same website address (yalliyalli.com). If you have already logged in to the previous version, you may have to refresh the browser.
Q. I can’t open YalliYalli pages from my bookmarks!
If you have bookmarked a page in the previous version YalliYalli, it won’t work for the new version. Please bookmark the page you want in the new YalliYalli website.
2. User information
Q. Can I use the same login ID? Will my login information stay the same?
Yes, you can use the same login information for the new version. Your information such as the purchase, points, tutoring, lesson, TOPIK test information will remain the same. But you may need some time to get used to the new pages. We are preparing a user guide to help you navigate the new version.
Q. Would my purchase points remain unchanged?
Yes, since all your user information is staying, your points will remain untouched. But the pages where you used to check your point balance, buying points, and checking where you used points have been changed.
Q. I haven’t verified my email address, can I still access the website?
You can still login to the website without verifying your email address. However, you are required to verify your email address to receive important notifications for key services such as tutoring. If you have signed up using a valid email address but haven’t verified it yet, please take a moment to verify your email address to experience complete service.
Q. What do I have to do if I signed up with an invalid email address?
We recommend signing up again with a valid email address. And if you sign up with a new email address, the information in the previous account can’t be migrated to the new one. (Please contact the Help Center if you have purchased points in your previous account)
Q. Why can't I book a session between 16:00~20:00 on January 4, 2023?
As we explained previously, we are shutting down the system to upgrade the system between 16:00~20:00 on January 4, 2023. We chose this time block for the downtime because it had the least number of sessions in the past 12 months. Since you can still book sessions other than the downtime hours, we hope for your understanding.
Q. I am a tutor, do I need to cancel the sessions that I have opened within the downtime hours?
Even though you have created sessions within the downtime hours, users won’t be able to book. Since we are suggesting tutees to select other available sessions, you do not have to do anything at this time. Just keep that in mind that you can’t create new sessions within the downtime hours.
Q. Do I have to download Zoom again for my tutoring session?
No, you don’t have to download Zoom application again since it is a separate service.
Q. Do I have to disable the pop-up blocker again?
If you are using the same browser on the same device, you don’t have to disable it again. But even though you are using the same ID, using a different device or a new browser may require you to disable the pop-up blocker. Please make sure to do it before the session starts.
Q. I have downloaded Zoom and disabled the pop-up blocker, but I still can’t enter the session. What else do I have to do?
If you already checked these two but are still unable to enter, then make sure you are not login the website using an in-app browser. What is an in-app browser? If you login to YalliYalli website by clicking a link in your mobile app such as Kakao Talk, WeChat, and Line, you may not be able to enter the session. If this is not case there is a high chance that the problem is caused by your personal network. Since we do not refund for a no-show due to the personal device or network issues, please ensure that they are working properly before the session starts.
2) Full TOPIK/ Mini TOPIK & Dashboard
Q. I have used Full TOPIK & Mini TOPIK services. Would I be able to see my test information?
Yes, as we explained in the user information section, you can continue to use the services for free without any disruption. Please note that you will see some new designs.
Q. I have purchased a Dashboard. Would I be able to continue accessing it?
Yes, but the ‘Dashboard’ name has changed to the ‘Test result’. And you should be able to review the test result more intuitively. For more details of the changes, we are going to explain to you separately.
Q. I have purchased the Dashboard, and I have received an email explaining about the compensation. If I received the compensation, can I still use the service?
As explained in the email, we have compensated all users who have purchased the dashboard. Regardless of the compensation, you can continue to use the service just like the previous version. You have received the email because there are some more changes planned for the TOPIK service in the near future.
Q. Why can’t I purchase the dashboard right now?
As we explained earlier, the updated dashboard is being prepared. We hope to provide the improved dashboard in the new YalliYalli soon.
Q. I used to use the lesson service. Would my lesson history information be there in the new YalliYalli?
Yes, as we explained in the user information section, your lesson history will remain the same. But the lesson service is going to go through a major makeover soon, and we decided to discontinue offering the quiz questions. This decision is to offer you better lesson services in the near future.
Q. Are there any events for the new YalliYalli?
We have some plans to celebrate and promote the upgraded YalliYalli. We are going to expand the review events that we have been offering through our official xiaohongshu account to the instagram account as well. Beside this, we are preparing a few more events to create more fun events.
Since we launched the tutoring and TOPIK services in YalliYalli last summer, a lot of users have been using the services and receiving a lot of positive feedback. We know that there are still many areas to improve but we have been encouraged to make a better service by those who have been with us. We will continue to do our best to make a better service for you.
